Gameday: Lady Bulldogs at Bama

TUSCALOOSA -- The Lady Bulldogs are on the road to take on a big-time opponent in Friday's season opener.

Head Coach Margaret Richards' young squad is in Tuscaloosa to face the Crimson Tide at Coleman Coliseum. Tipoff is 7 p.m.

The game will stream live on SEC Network + via the WatchESPN app. Eli Gold (play-by-play) and Rick Moody (analyst) will be on the call.

With two exhibition games under their belt, Richards said she's excited for the opportunity to play on a big stage. The Lady Bulldogs, who return four players - all sophomores - from last year, have nine freshmen on the roster and one junior.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to open up at Alabama with our group of kids," said Richards, who begins her second year on The Hill. "They are young, full of energy and eager to compete."

In the exhibition wins over Oakwood University and the University of West Alabama, A&M showed strong offensive play as well as a good inside game.

On Friday, they will be tested as they play the first of 11 non-conference games before the Jan. 1 season opener at Grambling State. The Lady Bulldogs' home opener is Nov. 15 when Evansville visits Elmore Gym.

"This will be a great experience for our young ladies and hopefully all our hard work and dedication in the off season will pay off," Richards said.
