Volleyball to face Georgia in First Round of 2017 NIVC Tournament

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Alabama A&M University volleyball team will face off against First Round-host Georgia in the 2017 National Invitational Volleyball Championship this Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m.(CT).

The Lady Bulldogs are one of 32 teams in the 2017 postseason tournament, which has been revived after its six-year run from 1989-1995. The field includes 20 Automatic Qualifiers as well as 12 At Large and features 17 programs with 18 or more wins. In all, 23 conferences will be represented, while the Lady Bulldogs are the lone school representing the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

Alabama A&M enters the NIVC Tournament with a 14-19 overall record while holding a 14-4 SWAC record after falling to Prairie View A&M in the SWAC Tournament Quarterfinals. The University of Georgia holds a 20-11 overall record in the 2017 campaign, paired with a 10-8 mark in the Southeastern Conference this season. The Georgia Bulldogs most recently closed out the regular season with a loss to Kentucky in a 3-0 sweep.
