When the Bulldogs took on Alabama State in a triple-overtime game Saturday, the fans, players and coaches ran the gamut of emotion.
Highs. Lows. Ecstasy. Agony. Amazement. Shock. Disbelief.
In the end, the Bulldogs lost 97-89 despite a 27-point, 18-rebound double-double from Quinterian McConico.Â
However, McConico was not around at the end, fouling out late in the second overtime.
Battle's fifth foul came on ASU's final possession of the second overtime, just seconds after he hit a pair of free throws to give the Bulldogs a 80-79 lead with 7.9 seconds to play.
De'Ederick Petty scored 21 points - buoyed by hitting 10-of-13 free throws in the game.
Marcus Merriweather added 16 points and Edwards finished with 10 before fouling out in the third overtime.
The Bulldogs had a 55-49 lead with about 40 seconds left in regulation, but were unable to hold on and both teams deadlocked at 57-57.
In the first overtime, A&M was up 68-67 with 21 seconds to go but the period ended 69-69.
The second overtime period ended 80-80 but the Bulldogs led 76-74 with 1:25 to play.
The Bulldogs are back on the road next weekend, visiting Southern next Saturday and Alcorn State on Feb. 20.
