In the Last Game
The Lady Bulldogs got off to a slow start Monday, January 30 but, after warming up, they went toe-to-toe with first-place Texas Southern. But the Lady Tigers were just too strong at the end and held off a scrappy A&M team 60-51.The Lady Bulldogs weren't intimidated by the SWAC's top-scoring team and top defensive team as they pushed Texas Southern to the final horn. Lauren McKee had a season-high 22 points, including hitting 5-of-10 from three-point range. Hilary Williams scored 14 points and Jameica Cobb had a team-high 9 rebounds.
 
Against the Opponent
The Alabama A&M women's basketball team dropped a 60-58 decision to Mississippi Valley in the team's first Southwestern Athletic Conference road game on Saturday, January 7 in the R.W. Harrison Complex in Itta Bena, MS. AAMU was led in the loss by senior guard Ebony Johnson with 14 points and eight rebounds. Junior guard Hilary Williams scored 10 points and added three assists. Freshman Courtney Eggleston, seeing her first action of the season after missing the first eleven games due to injury, dished out nine points and grabbed three rebounds.

For Mississippi Valley, Ashley Beals led the way with 16 points and nine rebounds. Christina Reed scored 13 points, four rebounds and dished out four assists. Lauren Elliott added 11for the Devilettes. 

Scouting the Opponent
Mississippi Valley State has a 8-12 overall record and 5-4 SWAC record, including a 67-88 loss against Grambling State in their last contest.  The Devilettes are led by Ashely Beals with 14.4 points per game, while Christina Reed adds 17.5 ppg and Kristy Parker posts 7.3 ppg.  Beals has a team-best 8.5 rebound per contest and Kenya Hailey leads with 1.7 assists per game.

Stepping Up
Seven of Alabama A&M's 10 players have scored in double figures this season.  Jameica Cobb has scored in double figures 13 times, while Ebony Johnson and Hilary Williams have each scored in eight double-figure scoring contests. Lauren McKee has had six double-figure scoring contests this season, including a season-high 22 points against Texas Southern. Asiah Oden, Josta Totten and Alisha Davis all have one double-figure contest.   

In the SWAC
Jameica Cobb is eighth in the SWAC in scoring with 13.6 points per game and fifth with 6.8 rebounds per game. Ebony Johnson is tied for eighth in SWAC in rebounding with seven rebounds per game and she is tied for third with a .846 free throw percentage. Hilary Williams is sixth in the SWAC with 3.1 assists per game. Williams is third with 2.3 steals per game.  Alisha Davis is second in the SWAC with 1.9 blocked shots per game.
