Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Jacksonville State

JACKSONVILLE, AL--- The Alabama A&M volleyball team fell at Jacksonville State 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-10) on Tuesday night.

Meredith Sieck registered 13 assists, six digs and one ace for the Lady Bulldogs. Malvis Ortiz led A&M in kills with six, Jaelin Gant had four and Mikel Coleman added three. Syretha Pride, Courtney Oliver and Gant each added three blocks, respectively.

Helea Figueriedo had eight digs, Terra Brooks added three digs and Riley Balsmeyer contributed seven assists.  

In the first set, the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-1 lead before the Gamecocks rallied back. Leading 11-9, the Gamecocks went on a 9-0 run for a 20-9 lead. Three kills from Gant and two attack errors would cut the Gamecocks lead to seven, but it wasn't enough as Jacksonville State scored four unanswered points to close out the set.

In the second set, the Lady Bulldogs struggled offensively as the Gamecocks powered out to a 15-6 lead. A&M went on a 3-0 with a kill from Sieck and Paris Smith, followed by a Jacksonville State attack error. The Lady Bulldogs continued to battle back but the Gamecocks were able to hold on to the lead to secure the set.

In the final set, Jacksonville State started off dominating with a 9-0 lead before continuing to extend their lead over A&M to close the set, 25-10 and secure the match.

The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action Friday as they travel to Houston, TX for the Southwestern Athletic Conference round up.
