HUNTSVILLE -- Though the Alabama A&M women's soccer team hadn't played a match in nearly two weeks, there was no rust to be seen Friday when they took on Chattanooga.

The Lady Bulldogs went toe-to-toe with the Mocs for more than 80 minutes before Chattanooga scored the lone goal of the match.

Before a raucous crowd at Bulldog Field, A&M defenders blocked shots, broke up passes and forced the Mocs to take high or wide shots.

Lauren Saunders, Camille Nurse, Khadijah Shakirof and Caroline Dyrdek provided a wall in front of goalkeeper Jodi Medina for much of the afternoon.

The stops would lead to several counters which saw Braejah Washington carry the ball up the touchline to find Ayanna Gooden for a hard shot which sailed just over the crossbar in the second half.

Iris Torres had a shot that rang off the left goalpost and Alexus Lawson also had a shot for A&M, who fall to 0-4 on the season.

Medina came up with five saves - including a diving stop and a save with her knees. In the Bulldogs' four games, Medina is sporting a 1.25 goals-against average.

The Lady Bulldogs hit the road this weekend to take on Mercer in a Sunday match. Kickoff is 2 p.m. Eastern.
