Volleyball Hosts Alcorn State, Mississippi Valley State

HUNTSVILLE- The Alabama A&M Volleyball team remain home as they play host to Alcorn State on October 28 and Mississippi Valley State on October 29 in the "Dig Pink" game.

The Lady Bulldogs enter Sunday's match 18-12 overall and 14-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play after winning all five matches last weekend at the SWAC East Roundup.

The team leads the conference in hitting percentage (.220), assists (10.98/set) and kills (11.70/set). Sophomore Maya Evans leads the SWAC with a .395 hitting percentage, while Megan Evans leads the conference with 8.80 assists per set. Senior Mine Centinoz is first in the SWAC in the digs category with an average of 4.94 per set.

THE MATCHUP: Alcorn State enters the game 4-10 in SWAC play after they played five close matches at the SWAC East Roundup last weekend but could only pull out one. They beat Texas Southern 3-2, but dropped two other five-setters and a couple four-setters.

The Lady Braves lead the conference with 2.02 service aces per set and are fourth in the conference with a .141 hitting percentage. Sydney Joseph leads offensively for the Alcorn with 2.60 kills per set and a .209 kill average. Barbara Cabo leads with 5.49 assists per set and Fiapaipai losia leads with a 3.17 dig average per set.

THE MATCHUP: Mississippi Valley State will make a pit stop at Alabama State Sunday before heading to the "The Hill". They enter the match against the Lady Hornets 2-12 in SWAC play after they played five matches at the SWAC East Roundup last weekend. The Lady Devilettes were only able to secure one win at the roundup which was a 3-2 victory over Prairie View A&M.

The team enters the game leading the conference with 14.70 digs per set with a .061 hitting percentage. Taylor Selfridge leads the Devilettes with 2.38 kills per set followed closely by Tyler Caliste with 2.32. Jessica Bell leads the team with 3.61 digs per set.
