Volleyball to Host Alabama State Thursday in Battle for No. 1 Seed

HUNTSVILLE- Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs will host Alabama State Thursday night in Elmore Gym at 7 p.m. for the Southwestern Athletic Conference No. 1 seed.

The Lady Bulldogs (20-12, 16-0 SWAC) currently have a two-game lead over Alabama State in the SWAC and are 1-0 against the Lady Hornets after defeating them 3-1 on October 4^th in Montgomery. With a win over Alabama State Thursday, the Lady Bulldogs will win the regular-season title and the No. 1 seed.

AAMU leads the conference in several areas including attack percentage (.225), assists per set (11.07) and kills per set (11.81). Maya Evans leads the squad with a .405 attack percentage and 74 total blocks. Terra Brooks has 2.77 kills per set followed by Alana Cox who has 2.75 kills per set and Jaelin Gant is third with 2.53 kills per set. Megan Evans leads with 8.94 assists per set.

Krysta Medearis leads the Lady Hornets (17-17, 14-2 SWAC) with 2.49 kills per set followed close by Bayle' Bennett with 2.48 kills per set. Bennett also leads the team with 2.08 digs per set. Candace Martin leads the conference with 102 total blocks.

Thursday's game will also be honoring the Lady Bulldog seniors: Rebecca Pierce and Mine Centinoz.
