Tennis Teams Both Go 2-0 in SWAC Roundup

HUNTSVILLE--- The Alabama A&M men's and women's tennis teams both went 2-0 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State over the weekend at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Roundup, which was held at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA.

In the men's match against UAPB, the Bulldogs dropped the first two single matches before winning No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 to secure the 4-2 victory. The double matches were not finished.

The MVSU match looked quite similar to the first match as the doubles were all unfinished and Carlos Salas, Cristian Bigott, Shakir Elvin and Mateo Monroy all won their single matches for the 4-0 victory.

For the women, Alabama A&M dominated the UAPB match, though all of the doubles were unfinished. Virag Hollos, Beatriz Gutierrez Cerezo, Shrarre Smith and Nthabiseng Mashego each were victorious in their single matchups.

Against Mississippi Valley, the Lady Bulldogs again swept singles as Hollos (No. 1 singles), Gutierrez (No. 2 singles) and Smith (No. 3 singles) each won their matches 6-0, 6-0. Mashego won her singles by default. All of the doubles were again unfinished.

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Auburn on March 10 for a 4 p.m. match.
