Bulldogs Suffer 71-58 loss to Prairie View A&M

PRAIRIE VIEW, Tex.--- The Alabama A&M men's basketball team fell to Prairie View A&M on the road by a 71-58 score on Monday evening.

Junior Andre Kennedy led the Bulldogs with a 12 points and added seven rebounds. Julian Walters and Evan Wiley each added 10 points with Jalen Reeder leading the team with eight rebounds.

Gary Blackston and Dennis Jones led four Prairie View players in double figures with a game-high 14 points each. J.D. Wallace had 13 points and Iwin Ellis added 11.

In the early going, Prairie View opened the game with a 6-0 run.  
 
The Panthers would expand their lead and built a 27-13 advantage with 6:10 left in the first half.

The Bulldogs answered with a 10-5 run to trim the deficit to nine points at the end of the half as the Panthers took a 32-23 lead into the intermission.
 
In the second half, both teams came out of the locker room trading points before Alabama A&M used a 6-0 run to cut Prairie View's deficit to three.
 
The Panthers countered with a run of their own to push their lead to 55-41 with 10:48 to play in the game. The Maroon and White came right back with a 9-4 run to pull within nine at 59-50.
 
From there, Prairie View would slowly build its lead back to 14 points at 64-50 with 6:46 left in the game. The Bulldogs were able to trim the deficit to 10 points, but could get no closer.

Alabama A&M  went 22-of-55 (40 percent) from the field and 4-of-15 (26.7 percent) on three-pointers. The Panthers shot 28-of-59 (47.5 percent) from the field and went 3-of-19 (15.8 percent) from deep.

The Bulldogs held a 38-35 edge in rebounding, including an 14-11 mark on the offensive glass.

Alabama A&M will play Thursday in Elmore Gym as they host Grambling State for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
