Track and Field's Halloween Practice Promotes Team Bonding

11/1/2019 10:23:00 AM

The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs continued their tradition of building team unity by bonding at their annual Halloween practice on yesterday.  This will be the fourth year under Head Coach LaShaunda Jones that this activity has taking place.

"This is one of our annual activities that I looked forward to each year to see the creativity from the athletes and the effort that they place in it," Jones stated. "Every year the athletes attempt to out do the costumes from the previous year just so they will have bragging rights.  A football game against each other usually takes place after the pictures however we had to cancel that part this year due to the weather."

Senior Akia Slaughter also shared her thoughts on her final Halloween practice.

"I feel like the Halloween practice was a success as its always been even with the weather being bad.  Seeing my teammates take the time to be creative is awesome and with this being my last year sharing it with them is worth so much," she stated.

Junior Tyrese McPhatter, who proclaimed he had the best costume also stated how he enjoys the yearly event.  "I think it shows our creativity and brings us closer as a team.  I have enjoyed the Halloween practices these past few years."

Both the men's and women's track and field teams will look to have successful seasons coming ahead and look forward to competing in the SWAC Championships.
