Lady Bulldogs Close Out Regular Season With Win Over Rival Alabama State in Rematch

MONTGOMERY, Ala. __ Alabama A&M volleyball defeated rival Alabama State on their Senior Night to close out the 2019 regular season on Friday night.

The Lady Bulldogs (19-13, 15-3 in SWAC) clinched their second straight Southwestern Athletic Conference Regular Season Title and will enter the SWAC Tournament with the top overall seed. The five set victory included scores of 25-19, 23-25, 20-25, 25-23 and 16-14.

Seniors Jaelin Gant and Terra Brooks led the way for Alabama A&M during their final regular season game of their careers. Gant finished with a season-high 21 kills and 15 digs for her fourth double-double of the season, while Brooks tallied her tenth double-double of the year with 11 kills and a season-high 20 digs.

Junior setter Megan Evans recorded a career-high 53 assists, along with eight digs and six kills, while also eclipsing the 2,000 career assist mark (2,040 total). Twin sister Maya Evans added nine kills of her own.

Also on the defensive end, sophomore Libero Maci Battle recorded 11 digs for her twentieth double digit dig game of the season.

Next up the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Itta Bena, Mississippi for the SWAC Tournament beginning next Friday, Nov. 22. The team will enter the tournament with the top overall seed.
