Men's Basketball to Host Jacksonville State in Second Straight Home Game

HUNTSVILLE __ The Alabama A&M men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday afternoon, as they host a 4 p.m. matchup with OVC opponent Jacksonville State at Elmore Gymnasium. The game will be the first of four games during the Christmas break for the Bulldogs.

Saturday's game will be the 16th time these two teams have met, with Jacksonville State leading the series 10-5. Alabama A&M won the last meeting between the teams on Nov. 24, 2015 on the road at Pete Matthews Coliseum in Jacksonville.

About A&M
  • The Dec. 6 matchup against JSU will be the second home game of the year for the Bulldogs, with their next being Dec. 20 as they host North Alabama in Elmore at 6 p.m.
  • On the season, Alabama A&M is shooting 37.3 percent from the field, 30.5 percent from three-point range and averaging 7.8 steals per game.
  • Alabama A&M is coming off their highest scoring game of the year in the 80-66 win over Sun Belt foe Troy University. The Bulldogs held the Trojans to only eight made field goals in the second half, for a 28.8 percentage from the floor.
  • Freshman Cameron Alford is coming off the best game of his career thus far, scoring a career-high 23 points to go along with nine rebounds and five assists in the Bulldogs win over Troy.
  • A win Saturday would give the Bulldogs their second win in a row and second at home in T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.
 
About Jacksonville State
  • Jacksonville State is currently 2-5 overall, with wins over Brescia University 125-55 and Chicago State 71-62.
  • JSU is back playing in the state of Alabama after falling on the road in Fairfax, Va. against George Mason on Tuesday night 67-60. Sophomore De'Torrion Ware led the squad with 19 points and seven rebounds.
  • The Gamecocks competed in the 2019 Emerald Coast Classic in Destin, Fla. last month, along with Alabama State, Chattanooga, Chicago State, Florida State, Purdue, Tennessee and Virginia Commonwealth.
  • Guard Derek St. Hilaire was named to the Emerald Coast Classic All-Tournament Team following the tournament, scoring 26 points in two games in the Sunshine State.
  • Guard De'Torrion Ware is leading JSU in scoring and rebounding at 12.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest. Senior forward Jacara Cross (10.9 ppg) and guard Derek St. Hilaire (10.0 ppg) are the only other two Gamecocks averaging double figures.
