Alabama A&M football adds 14 on signing day

HUNTSVILLE — Connell Maynor likes what he sees in the future for his Alabama A&M football program.

While addressing the media Wednesday afternoon, at the end of a busy National Signing Day, the second-year Bulldogs coach made that apparent.

And ford good reason.

Maynor's second National Signing Day on the Hill was a success.

Alabama A&M signed 14 players on Wednesday, adding to the four the Bulldogs picked up during the early signing period in December.

"We're extremely happy with this class," Maynor said. "With this class, we put an emphasis on finding players who would be able to come in and compete immediately. We won some battles against some bigger schools — including a few Power 5 schools — and was able to bring in a really, really good class."

An agile player who can play multiple positions on the offensive line… A junior college transfer who is physical at the point of the attack, and a player the coaches believe can come in an compete for a spot on the Bulldogs' offensive line.

Finished last season with 87 receptions for 1,375 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Odieu Hillare | WR | 6-0 | 160 pounds | Glades Central High | Belle Glade, Fla.

Finished his senior season with 750 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

Joshua Anderson | OL | 6-2 | 280 pounds | South Gwinnett High | Snellville, Ga.

While playing at South Gwinnett, Anderson proved to be a tough, physical offensive lineman who also showed flashes of significant athleticism.

Hayden Guilford | DE | 6-2 | 220 pounds | Grayson High | Loganville, Ga.

Was a playmaker on a large-school Georgia state power. … Finished last season with 35 tackles, 25 QB hurries, 6.5 sacks and 18 tackles for loss.

Cameron Young | WR | 5-9 | 175 pounds | Daphne High | Daphne, Ala.

Finished his senior season with 64 receptions with 1,232 yards and 14 touchdowns.

AJ Harris | DB | 6-0 | 186 pounds | Ole Miss/Bob Jones High | Madison, Ala.

Transferred from Ole Miss. … Was rated as a four-star prospect while coming out of high school at Bob Jones.

Jalen Carter | DT | 6-0 | 275 pounds | McAdory High | McCalla, Ala.

Finished last season with 63 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and seven sacks.

Xavier Billingsley | LB | 6-2 | 195 pounds | Central-Phenix City High | Phenix City, Ala.

While playing for last season's Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 7A state champion, finished with 85 tackles, four sacks and four tackles for loss.
