Jackson State tops Alabama A&M men's basketball

JACKSON, Miss. — Venjie Wallis paced Jackson State with 22 points as the Tigers topped Alabama A&M 66-47 Thursday night in a Southwestern Athletic Conference men's basketball game.

Jackson State (12-18, 9-8 in SWAC) led 28-18 at halftime.

Brandon Miller made a 3-pointer in the final seconds of the first half to give Alabama A&M (5-26, 4-13) some momentum heading into halftime, but it did not carry over after the break. Jackson State gradually extended its cushion throughout the second half.

Andre Kennedy led Alabama A&M with nine points, while Brandon Wright added seven.

Alabama A&M travels to Grambling State on Saturday to close out the regular season.
