Bulldogs perform well at Tiger Track Classic, move up in SWAC standings

AUBURN, Ala. __ The Lady Bulldogs were in action this past Friday and Saturday on the campus of Auburn University. Leading the Lady Bulldogs was Sophomore Diamond Griffin, who completed in the Women's 800-meter dash and finished with a personal best time of 2:14.70. That mark places her in the top three of the conference standings.  

"This weekend race consisted of great competition which allowed me to hit a personal best in my event," Griffin stated "Setting a personal best is a great feeling however I know that I have some small adjustments to make toward the race. Therefore, I will go back to practice this week to fix those mistakes to have an even better race this upcoming weekend."  

Two Lady Bulldogs found themselves in the top 20 of three events throughout the meet. Akia Slaughter finished in the 18th position of the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.18 and in the 200-meter dash with a 10th place finish and a time of 24.68. Maya Davis finished the meet in the 15th position in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.86 and 20th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.28. Both Slaughter and Davis were a part of the Women's 4x400 meter relay which finished 3rd overall with a time of 3:52.95.

In the field, Danice Loney continued to improve each time that she has touched the runway.  Loney improved on her outdoor mark clearing a height of 3.46m [11-04.25]. Ciarra Johnson finished in the 13thposition in the Women's Shot put with a throw of 12.20m [40-00.50]. Sophia Madison finished 11thin the Women's Javelin with a throw of 26.27m [86-02]. Jayla Neal finished 10th in the Women's Triple Jump with a jump of 11.17m [36-07.75]
 
On the Men's side of the field, Christian Bryant finished in the 12th position in the Men's Hammer Throw with a throw of 42.71m [140-01] and is currently holding the 6th position in the Outdoor SWAC standings.  Bryant also finished in the 11th position in the Men's Shot Put with a toss of 37.86m [124-02].   DeAndre Baker finished 11th in the Men's Triple Jump and teammate Jordan Simons finished directly behind him with a 12th place finish and a jump of 13.64m [44-09.00].

Saturday's competition began with the Men's Long Jump in which Senior DeAndre Baker finished 6th with a jump of 7.13 [23-04.75] which now places him in the 4th position in the SWAC Outdoor standings.

On the track the Bulldogs 4x100 meter relay had a season best of 41.31 and a 6th place finish, while the 4x100 also moved up on the SWAC Outdoor standings to the 4th position. The 4x100 relay consisted of Jordan Minnis, Tyrese McPhatter, Jatavion Boone and Donald Weakley.

Freshman Jatavion Boone continues to show progression in this outdoor season with a 5th place finish in the Men's 110 meter hurdles and a 12th place finish in the Men's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 54.97. To close out the meet, the Bulldogs saw two Sophomores in action in the top twenty of the Men's 200-meter dash with Tyrese McPhatter and Donald Weakley both finishing 15th and 16th both with a time of 22.12.
