Lady Bulldogs Fall to USC Upstate in Four Sets

SPARTANSBURG, SC __ Alabama A&M won the opening set in the road matchup Friday night in before South Carolina-Upstate came back and won the next three, handing the Lady Bulldogs the four-set loss.
 
Alabama A&M (4-8) held off a late run by USC Upstate () in the first set to win 26-24. The Bulldogs made a late push in the second, drawing within one before the Spartans answered with four points to finish the set 25-21, and tie the match at 1-1. USC Upstate took a 2-1 match lead with a 25-18 decision in the third and defeated the Bulldogs 25-15 in the fourth to close out the match.
 
For the Lady Bulldogs, Junior Maya Evans registered 15 kills, while twin sister Megan recorder her fourth consecutive double-double with 39 assists and 11 digs. Senior Terra Brooks also finished with a 15 kill, 10 assist double-double, her first of the season. Defensively, Maci Battle led the Bulldogs with 17 digs.
 
UP NEXT
Alabama A&M is back in action on the road again Saturday for two games in Boiling Springs, N.C. against East Carolina (12 p.m.) and Gardner-Webb (3 p.m.). Following the two final nonconference matches, the Bulldogs start conference play at the SWAC West Roundup on Sept. 27.
