Bulldogs Drop a Pair of Matches at Gardner-Webb

BOILING SPRINGS, NC __ Alabama A&M fell in their final non-conference matchups of the season, with losses to East Carolina and Gardner-Webb over the weekend in Boiling Springs, N.C. 

The Lady Bulldogs (4-10) fell in five sets to by scores of 25-22, 25-19, 20-25, 22-25, 5-15, to East Carolina (11-1) after winning the first two sets. Later on in the day the Bulldogs fell in four to Gardner-Webb (2-9) by scores of 19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 28-26, after defeating them earlier in the season. 

ECU 3, AAMU 2
Sophomore Alana Cox led the Bulldogs with a team-high 20 kills, while seniors Terra Brooks (15 kills, 12 digs) and Jaelin Gant (10 kiils, 16 digs) added a double-doubles of their own to lead the Alabama A&M offensive attack.

Junior Megan Evans finished with her fifth double-double of the season with a game-high 42 assists and 14 digs, while sophomore Maci Battle also finished with double-digit digs (15) in the loss to East Carolina.

GWU 3, AAMU 1
Senior Terra Brooks finished with her first double-double of the season, contributing a match-high 17 kills and 17 digs. Sophomore Alana Cox added 12 kills of her own, while Megan Evans recorded 38 assists.
 
Defensively, Battle finished with a team-high 26 digs, while Jaelin Gant added 12 of her own, as the Bulldogs fall to Gardner-Webb in the rematch between the two teams.

UP NEXT
Alabama A&M returns to action this weekend as they compete in the first SWAC West Roundup, hosted by Prairie View A&M starting on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs will have xx matches, including Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Southern, Grambling, Prairie View and Texas Southern.
