BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ^__ The Southwestern Athletic Conference began the first-ever Virtual Media Day event on Monday morning, for the first part of their two-day event.

SWAC Digital Network analyst James Verrett spoke with each head coach and one student-athlete from each women's program. Verrett discussed the upcoming Lady Bulldog season and other topics with fifth year head coach Margaret Richards and senior guard Deshawna Harper.

Outside of the conversations, the conference also announced the Women's Basketball Preseason Poll for the 2020-21 season. Richards and her Lady Bulldogs received 112 total votes, selected to finish fourth in the SWAC.

Jackson State led the way in the predicted order of finish polling, followed by Texas Southern, Southern, Alabama A&M and Prairie View A&M to round out the top five. Alabama State, Grambling State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Alcorn State, and Mississippi Valley State were tabbed to finish 6-10 respectively.

The preseason poll was voted upon by league head coaches and sports information directors.

The league is slated to announce 2020-21 SWAC Preseason Honors and Teams tomorrow (Nov. 3) at 10:30 am CST.
