HUNTSVILLE, Ala. __ After the arguably the best season in program history on the court, head coach Margaret Richards and her staff are also celebrating another great achievement off the court, as the team performed well in the classroom this past school year.

The Lady Bulldogs placed 10 student-athletes on the SWAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, with five players with grade point averages above 3.5, including SWAC Newcomer of the Year and all conference performer Dariauna Lewis, who maintained a 3.8.

Of the ten players honored, six were multiple year honorees, while fellow newcomers Tamya Long, Jasmine Stanley and De'Asia Thomas joined Lewis to be recognized in their first seasons on The Hill.

Among the six multi-year honorees, five were three-time members, including the lone senior from the roster in Jameica Cobb, as well as juniors Natalie Collins, Tierra Dark, DeShawna Harper and Nigeria Jones. Sophomore forward Lazurea Saunders also found herself on the list for her second consecutive season.

This past academic term over 1,700 student-athletes within the conference achieved historic academic success during the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters, marking a significant increase of over 11.7 percent from the previous academic term. The SWAC Commissioner's Honor Roll is comprised of student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
