HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University women's basketball team will be honored by the Huntsville City Council on Thursday evening in recognition of their outstanding 2025–26 season.
The Lady Bulldogs, led by head coach Dawn Thornton, will be recognized during the City Council meeting at Huntsville City Hall at 5:30 p.m.
Alabama A&M is coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history, highlighted by capturing the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Regular Season Champions title, in addition to going on an 18-game winning streak. Thornton was also named SWAC Coach of the Year, along with
Kalia Walker securing SWAC Player of the Year. These accolades further boosted the program's excellence both on and off the court.
The recognition celebrates the team's competitive success, leadership, and representation of Alabama A&M University and the Huntsville community throughout the season.
