Alabama A&M Men’s Basketball Falls To Jacksonville State 70-47

Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M (1-1, 0-0 SWAC) fell to Jacksonville State (1-1, 0-0 ASUN) 70-47 in an NCAA Division I men's basketball game on Saturday, November 13.
 
Junior guard Garrett Hicks (Madison, Ala.) finished with 11 points, six rebounds. Junior forward Jalen Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) had 11 points as well with five rebounds. Freshman guard Eric Lee (Tampa, Fla.) also notched 11 points.
 
The Gamecocks started strong, jumping out to a 12-2 lead within the first five minutes of play before the Bulldogs would respond with a 14-5 run that included two treys from Lee and five points from Johnson to close the gap to 17-16 at the 10:43 minute mark.
 
Jacksonville State would have a mini 5-2 burst before stretching the score with a 22-0 run in a span of eight minutes that included triple three pointers from Jalen Gibbs to lead 40-18 with one minute left in the first half. From there neither team would produce any offense and the Bulldogs would then head to the break trailing 40-18.
 
JSU would start the second half with a bang, going on a 13-4 run that included back-to-back triples from Gibbs to lead 53-22 with 15:42 showing on the clock. At that point, Alabama A&M would respond by unleashing a 16-5 rally with Hicks nailing consecutive free throws and a three pointer. Junior guard Cameron Tucker (Birmingham, Ala.) contributed with three points to close the gap to 58-38 by the 10 minute mark.
 
The Gamecocks would answer with a mini 5-0 burst before Lee would sink a trey that was followed by consecutive layups from Hicks to make the score 63-45. The Bulldogs would then score their final two points of the night on bucket from Johnson at 5:23.
 
Jacksonville State would not look back as they unleashed a 6-0 run that included four points from Kayne Henry to push their advantage and give them a 70-47 victory over AAMU.
 
Gibbs led JSU with 15 points and seven rebounds while Darian Adams finished with 13 points, five rebounds and six assists. Brandon Huffman notched a double-double of 12 points and 15 boards and Henry had nine points and five assists
 
The Bulldogs will next take to the court to battle against American Athletic Conference (AAC) power Cincinnati on Tuesday, November 16. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. EST in Cincinnati, Ohio.
