Alabama A&M's Lewis Named BOXTOROW National Player and SWAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama A&M junior forward Dariauna Lewis (Omaha, Neb.) has been named BOXTOROW National Player of the Week and, in back-to-back weeks and for the fifth time of her career, the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by those organizations on Tuesday, February 9.

A force to be reckoned with, Lewis delivered another outstanding week, this time averaging 17.0 points, 14.5 rebounds and an assist, block and steal per game over the course of a pair of victories. Additionally, she shot an incredible .727 (16-of-22) from the floor.

She opened the week against Mississippi Valley State (2/6) with a massive double-double of 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting, 17 rebounds (five offensive) and added an assist and block for good measure. That effort helped fuel a commanding 81-43 victory.

Lewis would cap the week against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2/8) with another double-double, this time 18 points (9-of-13) and 12 caroms to go with an assist, block and two steals in 33 minutes. AAMU would earn a 76-69 victory to move to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action.

Through nine games Lewis currently leads the SWAC in field goal percentage (.604) is second in rebounding (11.9), fourth in blocks (2.0) and sixth in scoring (15.8).

It marks the fifth time in her brief AAMU career that she has earned SWAC Player of the Week, collecting honors on November 21, 2019, January 14 and December 2, 2020 and February 2 of this year.

Lewis and the Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, February 13 when they travel to rival Alabama State. Game time is slated for 2 p.m. in Montgomery, Alabama.
