BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama A&M senior forward
Dariauna Lewis (Omaha, Neb.) picked up her third Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Basketball weekly honor of the season, earning Player of the Week as announced by the league on Wednesday, January 5.
Even with just one opportunity this past week she took full advantage of it as she delivered another outstanding performance, this one fueling a 58-48 SWAC opening victory at Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1/3).
In that one outing she put up 26 points with a nearly flawless shooting performance, going 8-of-10 from the floor and a perfect 10-of-10 at the foul line. Along with that she hauled in a game-high 14 rebounds to go with three steals and a block in 34 minutes of work.
Lewis would also deliver in the clutch as she scored eight straight points with the Bulldogs trailing 48-46 in the fourth to power the game-winning 12-0 run.
On the season she is averaging 11.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks and shooting .463 (44-of-95) at the foul line.
Lewis previously earned the league's Impact Player of the Week on December 15 and 23, joining senior guard
Deshawna Harper (Indianapolis, Ind.) who collected the first of the season on November 24. Graduate guard
Nigeria Jones (Lincoln, Neb.) makes for five league recognitions this season as she was named Player of Week on December 15.
Lewis and the Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, January 5 at Mississippi Valley State.
