HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M women's volleyball (2-15, 1-1 SWAC) hosts their Sunshine State counterparts as Bethune-Cookman (0-14, 0-2 SWAC) and defending Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament Champion Florida A&M (4-11, 1-0 SWAC) visit Elmore Gymnasium on Sunday, October 2 and 3, respectively. First serve for B-CU is set for 12 p.m. with FAMU slated for 6 p.m.
The Bulldogs are coming off of a split in their first two league matches following a 3-0 loss (25-17, 25-20, 25-19) at Jackson State (9/25) and a 3-0 sweep (25-21, 25-14, 25-21) at Mississippi Valley State (9/26). Bethune comes in having lost all 14 matches this season and 15 overall dating to last season. Most recently they fell 3-0 at Alabama State (10/1). The Rattlers, meanwhile, enter play this weekend having snapped a four-match losing streak with a 3-0 win over B-CU (9/23).
All-time against Bethune-Cookman, A&M is 1-2 with the first of those being a 3-0 victory on September 12, 2009 in Montgomery, Alabama. The clubs would then not play again for 12 years until the Wildcats joined the SWAC, that being a 3-0 loss in Daytona Beach, Florida on October 17, 2021. Most recently B-CU posted a 3-1 win on November 10, 2021.
The series with FAMU also sees the Bulldogs down 2-1 but in a much more recent vintage. The first meeting would be a 3-1 win, also in Montgomery, on August 31, 2019 before the Rattlers claimed a pair of 3-0 victories on October 18 and November 13, 2021.
