BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In advance of the 2022-23 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) season, Alabama A&M men's basketball senior guard
Garrett Hicks (Madison, Ala.) has earned a second straight Preseason First-Team honor as announced by the league on Friday, October 14.
Hicks anchored an Alabama A&M program that reached the SWAC Tournament semifinals in 2021-22, a season that saw him average 14.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.0 assists while playing 999 minutes. He also shot .357 from three-point range to rank as one of the top performers in that category in the league.
On the season he delivered double-digit scoring efforts in 22 of his 28 games (all starts) along with nine games with at least three three-pointers. One of his top performances on the season came at Southern (2/5) when he dropped a season-high 25 points while logging 39 minutes.
Hicks and the Bulldogs will tip-off the 2022-23 season on November 10 when they host neighboring North Alabama at Elmore Gymnasium.
