HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M women's volleyball (4-20, 3-5 SWAC) returns home for a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) matches as they play host to Jackson State (7-13, 6-2 SWAC) and Mississippi Valley State (1-16, 0-8 SWAC) on Sunday, October 23 and Monday, October 24, respectively. First serve is set for 4 p.m. against JSU and 6 p.m. vs. MVSU.
A&M comes in having lost four in a row, falling to Grambling (3-2 on 10/9), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-2 on 10/10), 3-0 at Chattanooga (3-0 on 10/16) and 3-1 at Alabama State on October 20. Jackson State has claimed four of their last five matches, most recently falling 3-1 vs. Florida A&M (10/14) and knocking off Bethune-Cookman 3-1 on October 16. Valley visits Elmore Gymnasium having dropped their last 10 matches, the last by a 3-0 score to FAMU on October 15.
Against Jackson State the
Bulldogs hold a 23-16 lead in the all-time series, including nine straight wins from September 23, 2005 and October 26, 2007. Currently JSU has won the last three though, notching a 3-0 decision in Huntsville on October 3, 2021 and 3-1 and 3-0 wins on November 7, 2021 and September 25, 2022 in Jackson, Mississippi.
The series against Valley is a completely different story as
A&M is up a massive 30-4, fueled by an epic 28 match win streak that dates to October 5, 2009. Of those a whopping 19 have been 3-0 sweeps, including earlier this season on September 26 in Itta Bena, Mississippi.
