D'IBERVILLE, Miss. – Alabama A&M closed out the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East Regional Bowling Championships, held from February 4-6, finishing 6-of-8 with a 172.7 pin fall average over the course of 14 matches.
The Bulldogs went 5-9 in those qualifying matches, notching a pinfall total of 12,089 in 70 games, putting them in the No. 9 matchup on the final day of the tournament. In that one, AAMU won 913-866 against Texas Southern.
Individually, junior
Montaya Walton (Detroit, Mich.) led the way for the Bulldogs, finishing 9-of-55 with a pinfall average of 194.14 and a high of 224, while junior
Kelecia Orange (Birmingham, Ala.) finished 31
st with a pinfall average of 164.31 and a game-high of 184. Freshman
Tamyra Long followed one spot behind in 32
nd with a pinfall average of 174.50.
Junior Nariya Jackosn (Fort Wayne, Ind.) finished in 33
rd with a pinfall average of 174.50 and a game high of 180.
No. 25 Prairie View would take home the tournament title with Southern taking second and Alabama State, TSU and Florida A&M rounding out the top five.
The Bulldogs will be back in action from February 11-13 at the James Brown Invitational in Baltimore, Maryland.
