Alabama A&M's Dariauna Lewis Delivers Third Consecutive BoxToRow First-Team All-American Recognition

FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. – Alabama A&M women's basketball senior forward Dariauna Lewis (Omaha, Neb.) continues to make history, earning her third straight BOXTOROW First-Team All-American honor as announced by that organization on Wednesday, March 30.

Already regarded as one of the top players in the country, Lewis further cemented that belief with her selection as one of seven First-Team choices from the Historically Black College or University (HBCU) ranks.

It is an honor well-earned as she played in all 29 games, starting 28 and posting averages of 15.2 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, 1.1 assists and nearly a steal per game. She also shot .500 from the field (167-of-334) and .724 (105-of-145) at the foul line.

It would be a 2021-22 campaign that saw her earn a second straight College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America honor – this time Second-Team – to go with Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Second-Team recognition and four weekly awards. She would split the latter between Player of the Week and Impact Player of the Week.

It would be performances such as her 18 double-doubles and 12 games of at least 12 rebounds that would help to drive those honors. Among those outings were a 26 point, 18 board effort at Texas Southern (1/22), 13 points and 19 boards against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2/14) and 20 points and 17 rebounds (10 offensive) vs. Alcorn State (1/8).

Lewis would also deliver one of her top performances in the SWAC Quarterfinals against Grambling (3/9) as she finished with a season-high 32 points and 10 caroms to go with two blocks, a two of steals and an assist.

Additionally, she ranks ninth in defensive rebounds per game (8.1), 13th in double-doubles, 14th in rebounds per game, 16th in total rebounds (329) and 28th in blocks per game. In terms of SWAC statistical rankings she leads the league in rebounds and rebounds per game, is second in blocks and third in field goal percentage.

She joins Whiquitta Tobar as the only other Bulldog on record to have earned such acclaim, picking up First-Team honors following the 2011-12 season.

ABOUT BOXTOROW
BOXTOROW is a media company with a national reach. The BOXTOROW name derived from the national sports talk show FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW which currently airs on radio stations all across the country as well as on Satellite Radio on SiriusXM. FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW began airing on August 20, 2005 on just five radio stations. While the show gives listeners a personal and intimate perspective through interviews with some of the top sports, entertainment and sometimes political figures of the day, and through talking about some of the hot button topics of the day, at the heart of BOXTOROW is its coverage of HBCU sports.
