HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Football season is right around the corner and Alabama A&M Sports Information is taking you inside each of the 11 games throughout the spring and summer with an in-depth look at each over an 11-week stretch leading up to Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Media Day on Thursday, July 21.
 
Each release will come out on Sunday and will feature info on the opponent, series history, location and even insight from head coach Connell Maynor to get you primed for the 2022 campaign.

About The Game
The Bulldogs stay in the State of Alabama for the second straight week, and against their second straight Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponent, as they head south to take on Troy (2021: 5-7, 3-5 SBC) on Saturday, September 10.
 
This will be the first meeting with the Trojans at the highest level of college football and will be only the second time in program history playing back-to-back FBS opponents to start a season. The only other came in 2017 when A&M traveled to UAB (L, 38-7 on Sept. 2), Vanderbilt (L, 42-0 on Sept. 9) and South Alabama (L, 45-0 on Sept. 16).
 
While kickoff has not been announced it is likely the game will be under the lights when the teams take the field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy, Alabama.
 
Series History vs. Troy
The only meeting in series history between the teams goes far enough back that both clubs were at the I-AA level.
 
It would be the season opener for both teams for the 2000 season, that coming on September 2 at Louis Crews Stadium. The Bulldogs would fall 28-13 but there would be no shame in that as it was the first of three straight wins and 10 of their first 11 for the Trojans. That stretch included a 34-28 win over I-AA playoff team Appalachian State and a 62-19 drubbing of Alabama State.
