HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Following 15 non-conference matches, Alabama A&M women's volleyball (1-14, 0-0 SWAC) kicks off Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play in the State of Mississippi with contests at Jackson State (1-11, 0-1 SWAC) and Mississippi Valley State (1-8, 0-0 SWAC) on Sunday, September 25 and Monday, September 26, respectively.
A&M is coming off of a 3-0 loss at Middle Tennessee (9/21) out of Conference-USA and has dropped their last five while JSU has lost their last 10, only defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff (8/26) in non-conference action in Cape Giraudeau, Missouri. Most recently they dropped their league opener to Alabama State (9/23) by a 3-0 score and MVSU comes in having lost their last two. They fell 3-2 to Belhaven (9/16) and 3-1 to Miles (9/19) in their most recent outings.
Against Jackson State the
Bulldogs hold a 23-15 lead in the all-time series, including nine straight wins from September 23, 2005 and October 26, 2007. Currently JSU has won the last two though, notching a 3-0 decision in Huntsville on October 3, 2021 and a 3-1 win on November 7, 2021 in Jackson, Mississippi.
The series against Valley is a completely different story as A&M is
up a massive 29-4, fueled by an epic 27 match win streak that dates to October 5, 2009. Of those a whopping 18 have been 3-0 sweeps but in their most recent meeting the Bulldogs pulled out a 3-2 decision in Itta Bena, Mississippi on November 8, 2021. It is one of just three contests in the series that have gone the distance, two within that streak.
