Box Score MACON, Ga. – The Bulldog men's tennis program (0-1, 0-0 SWAC) dropped a 6-1 match in their season opener on Saturday morning in non-conference action against Mercer held at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
Alabama A&M dropped the doubles point as the groups of
Arnav Pathange (Mysore, India) and
Divesh Gahlot (Haryana, India) dropped their match 6-1 at the first spot, followed by
Freddie Lawrence (Peachtree City, Ga.)
and
Vence N'Tcha (Cotonou, Benin) who
fell 6-4 in the third doubles spot. Meanwhile,
Chetanna Amadike (Calgary, Canada) and
Yin Chih Lan (New Taipei, Taiwan) were leading 4-3 in their pairing at the second doubles spot.
In singles play, N'Tcha was swept in straight sets at No. 2, followed shortly after by a Bulldog win to avoid the sweep, as Amadike took home an individual win in three sets at the fourth spot.
Lan also fell in three sets at No. 1 by scores of 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, while Gahlot was swept 7-5, 7-6. The Bulldogs also dropped games at the fifth and sixth spots, as Lawrence fell at No. 6 (6-2, 4-6, 6-4) before Pathange lost at No. 5 (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) to secure the Bear win.

The Bulldogs will return to play next weekend as they take on Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro on Sunday, February 5. The match is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. inside the Adams Tennis Complex.
