HUNTSVILLE – Alabama A&M women's basketball will look to extend their strong start to Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play as they face Alcorn State on Saturday, January 7. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. for the first leg of the doubleheader inside the Davey L. Whitney Complex.
The Bulldogs (4-8, 2-0 SWAC) are coming in after winning three straight games, including a road matchup against Central Arkansas (Dec. 29), before taking a pair of home wins to start SWAC play against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Jan. 2) and Mississippi Valley State (Jan. 4) inside the Event Center.
Alcorn State (4-8, 0-1 SWAC) is looking to end a four-game losing streak and are currently 4-1 at home so far. When last seen, the Braves fell to Jackson State, 59-49, on Monday, January 2 for their first loss inside their home venue.

- A&M has shown to have a balanced attack so far on the year, as nine players average at least 13 minutes per contest, while four average at least eight points, led by Toni Grace (Fishers, Ind.) at 11.7 points per game. Following Grace are Amani Free (Clay, N.Y.) at 9.3 points, Amiah Simmons (Osawatomie, Kan.) at 8.7 points, and Taylor Smith (Fosters, Ala.) at 8.0 per contest.
- The Bulldogs are currently shooting 35 percent from the floor, 29.2 percent from deep, and 67.6 percent from the free throw line, while grabbing 36.1 rebounds per contest. They also average just under six steals defensively, along with scoring 13 points off turnovers per game.
- Alabama A&M is also looking to end a two-game losing streak against Alcorn State, as they have faced off just once each of the last two seasons. The Bulldogs dropped their last game in Lorman 73-64 in 2021, before falling last season 61-59 inside of Elmore Gymnasium.
