Jasmine Perez-Acosta's goal with less than five minutes remaining became the game-winner as the Alabama A&M University women's soccer team won its first contest of the season, 3-2, over Mississippi Valley State in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match on Friday afternoon at the MVSU Soccer Field.
Alabama A&M (1-13 overall, 1-4 SWAC) broke the scoreless tie in the 15th minute as
Victoria Mealing found the back of the net, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
However, Mississippi Valley State (2-10, 1-6) answered with the equalizer in the 29th minute. Jaslyn Sanders assisted in Genesis Hernandez's goal, tying the game at 1.
With the score tied at 1, Perez-Acosta notcher her first goal, unassisted, as the Bulldogs grabbed a 2-1 advantage.
Back came the Devilettes as Hernandez, off an assist by Liana Bryant, found the back of the net for her second of the game.
