BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University women's soccer team reached the 2023 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Soccer Tournament on the final day with a thrilling 1-0 victory over rival Alabama State.
 
The conference announced on Saturday the seedings and tournament bracket ahead for next week's tourney, which begins on Thursday, at the Prairie View A&M Soccer Complex in Prairie View, Texas
 
Alabama A&M (3-6 SWAC) enters tournament play as the No. 8 seed and will meet top-seed Grambling State (8-0-1) on Thursday in the quarterfinals. The two will open the tourney with a 10 a.m. match.
 
Texas Southern, the fourth seed, will meet fifth-seeded Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the second match at 1 p.m., followed by Jackson State, the No. 2 seed, against Alcorn State, the No. 7 seed, at 4 p.m.
 
In the final match during the quarterfinals, third-seeded Southern will meet No. 6-seed Prairie View A&M at 7 p.m.
 
The semifinals begin on Friday with two matches, starting at 3 p.m., with the championship match set for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5.
