SEVIERVILE, Tenn. __ Alabama A&M golf finished opening day of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, hosted by Tennessee Tech, tied for ninth after the first round of play at the Sevierville Golf Club.

A&M turned in a 11-over par, 299 total and is tied with Northern Iowa heading into round two on Monday. Carson-Newman leads the tournament so far with an eight-under par, 280, while the host school is currently two strokes behind the Bulldogs in the leaderboard.

Individually,
Felipe Gomez Lopez is the low man for the Bulldogs and tied for 19ht so far after firing a first round even-par 72.
Jason Johnson is tied for 38th at two-over par 74, while
Niall Bagnall tied for 59th at four-over 76.

Juan Ray Gaitan (5-over 77) and
Kim Byeongkwan (9-over 81) were closed out the scores for A&M in round one, finishing tied for 66th and 80th respectively.
The Bulldogs will return to the course on Monday morning for a 11:30 a.m. tee time for day two of competition.
