NASHVILLE, Tenn. | The Alabama A&M University men's tennis team began its spring season on Sunday afternoon as the Bulldogs fell to Vanderbilt, 7-0, at the Lummis Family Tennis Center.
The Commodores (3-0) took the doubles point, claiming victories at No. 2 and No. 3.
The team of
Chetanna Amadike and
Yin Chih Lan fell to Joubert Klopper and Danil Panarin, 6-3, while
Lebogang Mashego and
Freddie Lawrence dropped a 6-1 decision to Juan Lopez and Hugo Coquelin as Vanderbilt grabbed a 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Vanderbilt completed the win by sweeping all six matches.
At No. 1, Amadkike fell to Panarin, 6-0, 6-3, while Klopper blanked
Vence N'Tcha, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Lan dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision at No. 3 to Nathan Cox and Lopez defeated
Arnav Pathange, 6-3, 6-0. Jeremie Casabon knocked off Lawrence, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 and the Commodores completed the sweep at No. 6 as Mashego fell to Connor Robb-Wilcox, 6-0, 6-0.
