PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | Senior Fatima Ramirez led the Bulldogs offense with 13 kills and one service ace in the 3-1 road loss to Prairie View A&M on Tuesday night.
Junior Bailey Duckett shined on both sides on the ball, notching 10 kills, seven digs and four blocks. Saniya Spalding added a season-high six blocks during the match. Michell Jerez dug 20 balls, while Grace Tapscott tallied 17 assists. The Maroon and White had its best performance in the first set, with a .294%.
PVAMU was paced by a strong defense, with Jade Coates and Aliyah Levert notching eight and five blocks respectively. Leila Smalls added 15 digs. Kylee Owens led the Panthers in kills with 10, and dug 12 balls, in addition to her three blocks. Tayler Ruffin assisted 18 balls, followed by Makinzie Taplin's 16. PVAMU had their best performance in the fourth set, hitting at a .448%, and keeping the Bulldogs to a -.067% in the stanza. The Bulldogs still lead the all-time series with the Panthers 16-9.
AAMU will hit the hardwood on Friday, November 1st on The Hill in Elmore Gymnasium. Fans are encouraged to bring canned goods to be donated as a part of the AAMU Athletics Canned Good Drive. First serve is set for 7 p.m. and admission is free to the public.
