THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University football team will be under the lights at Louis Crews Stadium as the Bulldogs welcome Grambling State in the home finale on Thursday night in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game. Kickoff is set 7 p.m. and televised nationally on ESPNU.
Â
Alabama A&M (4-5 overall, 2-3 SWAC) broke a three-game road losing streak and an overall two-game losing skid last Saturday in a 52-24 rout of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. After a slow start, Alabama A&M scored 28 second-quarter points and running back
Donovan Eaglin recorded five rushing touchdowns in between the second and third quarters to roll to the lopsided victory.
Â
Grambling State (5-5, 2-4) also ended a two-game losing streak last week as the Tigers rallied with 14 fourth-quarter points and survived a missed 28-yard field goal to defeat Alabama State, 24-23, at home. The Tigers had 247 total yards, including 171 on the ground in the win. Keilon Elder registered 104 yards on 17 carries and one score, while Andrew Jones finished with 14 total tackles.
Â
The game will be aired on ESPNU as Tiffany Greene (play-by-play) and Jay Walker (analyst) will have the call. In addition, fans can tune into WJAB 90.9 FM as Ted Dixie (play-by-play) and Reggie Benson (analyst) will call all the action.
Â
Alabama A&M head coach
Connell Maynor said the Bulldogs executed at a high level in the win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and will be looking to do the same on Thursday night.
Â
"We had a lot of positives last week, but the only negatives were that they got in the red zone three times and got three scores, and we had three turnovers," Maynor said. "We've got to clean those up. That was a big win for us, not because it was a win, but a win on the road in the conference.
Â
"Grambling State is a good football team and are playing well. Their three losses before this game is like a total of eight points, so they could have very easily been undefeated. Coach (Mickey) Joseph is doing a great job with those guys in his first year. He's got those guys playing hard-nosed football. They run the ball down your throat and play good defense."
