Bulldogs to Visit Yellow Jackets in Final Non-Conference Tilt

THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team closes out its non-conference campaign on Saturday as the Bulldogs visit Georgia Tech. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. (central time) from McCamish Pavilion and streamed on the ACC Network.

Alabama A&M (4-8) enters the game riding a five-game losing streak and is coming off a 97-90 loss last Saturday at home against Samford. Five Bulldog players reached double figures in scoring, including AC Bryant and Bilal Abdul-Rahman, which combined for 43 of the 90 points. Both also posted career highs in the loss.

Alabama A&M is averaging 78.1 points per game and shooting 42.5 percent from the field.

The Bulldogs rank 10th nationally in turnovers forced per game and 12th in offensive rebounds.

AC Bryant leads three Bulldog players in double figures at 13.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Quincy McGriff, who saw action in his first game in the loss to Samford, is averaging 13.0 points, while Chad Moodie is posting 12.6 points and 4.7 boards per game.

Lorenzo Downey now sits 11 points and Moodie 88 points shy of reaching 500 for their careers.

Georgia Tech (5-7) enters the game having dropped four out of its last five games, including an 82-56 loss at home last Saturday to fifth-ranked Duke.

The Yellow Jackets are 16-2 all-time against members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and 53-3 against Division I HBCU programs. Georgia Tech has played, or at least scheduled, a team from either the MEAC or the SWAC every year since 2011-12.

Last Saturday against Duke, Baye Ndong scored 14 points and Duncan Powell added a season-high as the Yellow Jackets could not recover from the Blue Devils' 15-point first-half lead in falling, 82-56.

Georgia Tech is shooting 42.6 percent from the field and averaging 74.8points per game.

Lance Terry paces three Yellow Jacket players in double figures at 14.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Ndongo is posting 13.0 points and 7.2 boards, while Nathan George is averaging 10.4 and 3.3 points and rebounds per game.

The Yellow Jackets are 5-4 at home this season with wins over West Georgia, Texas Southern, Charleston Southern, Central Arkansas and UMBC.

After Saturday's game at Georgia Tech, the Bulldogs open Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play on Saturday, Jan. 4 as Alabama A&M plays host to Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Tip-off against the Golden Lions is scheduled for 4 p.m. and streamed on Bulldogs All-Access.
