JACKSON, Miss. | The Alabama A&M University women's tennis team concluded play at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Pod on Monday as the Bulldogs fell to Prairie View A&M, 4-2, late on Sunday and wrapped up the weekend with a 4-0 sweep of Alcorn State at the JSU Tennis Courts.
Against PVAUM, the Panthers won the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3.
The team of
Hannah Nagpall and
Sofia Sotelo Raya defeated Amaya Bobadilla and Cierra Garcia, 6-1, at No. 2 doubles.
Prairie View A&M took a 2-0 lead with a win at No. 4, but
Alicia Owegi won at No. 6, 6-3, 6-0 over Garcia, closing the gap to 2-1.
The Panthers sealed the victory, earning wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
On Monday against Alcorn State, the Bulldogs won by forfeit at No. 3 and the team of
Ntokozo Zungu and
Ariadna Ondo Cerezo blanked Doaa Mohamed and Nicole Kells, 6-0, as AAMU grabbed the doubles point.
In singles play, AAMU got wins by forfeit at No. 5 and No. 6 and Raya sealed the victory at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Natalija Nikolic.
