CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. | Alabama A&M University women's tennis competed at the Austin Peay Fall Tournament Sept. 25-27 at the Governors Tennis Courts, with the Bulldogs putting together several strong performances across singles and doubles competition.
On the opening day of competition, Alabama A&M picked up multiple singles victories. Lavynia Vieira de Sa earned a straight-set win over Austin Peay's Hayley Garber, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3). Nardine Salem also secured a singles victory, defeating Chattanooga's Margaret Manolache, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, while Sunira Thapa cruised past Chattanooga's Joelle Krikorian, 6-2, 6-1. Naomi Blanks added another singles win with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Murray State's Molly Null.
In doubles action on Day 1, Melissa Mwakha and Sunira Thapa defeated Austin Peay's Cocomi Saito and Hayley Garber, 6-4.
The Bulldogs continued competing on the second day, adding several more victories in both singles and doubles. Gabrielle Henderson battled to a three-set singles victory over Western Kentucky's Virginia Madueno, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 10-6. Sunira Thapa picked up another singles win, defeating Murray State's Ilouna Aneca, 4-6, 6-2, 10-7, while Lavynia Vieira de Sa also earned her second singles victory of the tournament, defeating Murray State's Molly Null, 4-6, 6-1, 10-4.
In doubles, Melissa Mwakha and Gabrielle Henderson defeated Murray State's Yu Kikawa and Varvara Alexeyeva, 6-3. Naomi Blanks and Lavynia Vieira de Sa also secured a doubles victory over Murray State's Molly Null and Ilouna Aneca, 6-4.
Through the first two days, the Bulldogs showed depth throughout the lineup, collecting wins across multiple singles positions while also earning victories in doubles play.

The Bulldogs will compete at the SWAC Tournament in Jackson, MS on Oct. 2-3.
