HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University baseball team used a six-run first inning and didn't look back as the Bulldogs defeated Faulkner, 10-3, on Tuesday afternoon at Bulldog Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Faulkner (30-11) picked up one run in the top of the first inning to grab a quick 1-0 lead.
However, Alabama A&M (7-28) answered with six runs off five hits to take a 6-1 advantage.
Dre Amaral opened the frame and was hit by a pitch. He moved to second as
Brycen Hammonds reached on a fielder's choice.
Tristan Curless followed and singled down the line in right as Amaral scored.
Zak Rice plated Hammonds with a base hit through the right side and Curless scored on a
Jesus Riera smacked a base hit through the left side.
Miles Jackson doubled to right center as Rice and Riera scored. Jackson came across with a
Jared Tribett double.
The Bulldogs plated three more runs in the third and one in the fourth for a 10-1 lead.
Faulkner plated two runs in the top of the ninth but could not complete the rally.
GAME NOTES
- Alabama A&M finished with 10 runs on nine hits, had one error and stranded 12 on base
- Zak Rice went 2-for-3, with three RBI and one run scored
- Tristan Curless, and Jared Tribett also collected two hits
- Trey Scott (1-1) picked up his first win of the season in five innings. He gave up one run on three hits, fanned five and walked one
- Charlie Lazo and Alex Diaz pitched in relief
- Faulkner finished with three runs on eight hits, committed three errors and left six on base
- Zakary Farris and Francisco Soriano each recorded two hits
- Alexis Saladana (2-3) took the loss, surrendering six runs on five hits, with two strikeouts and two walks
- Evan Valencia, Henry Thornton, Kelton Pilkinton and Jordan Destefano worked in relief

Alabama A&M returns to the road for a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series against Florida A&M, beginning on Friday with the opener. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. (central time).
