THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University baseball program will have three players competing in the Sixth Annual Minority Baseball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis, N.C.
Shortstop
AJ Anderson and infielder
Zak Rice were named to Team Larry Watkins, while utility player
Tervell Johnson was selected to Team Wilbert Ellis.
Anderson, who was 9-of-11 in stolen base attempts this season, batted .222, with 40 hits, including 10 doubles and one home run. In addition, he scored 27 times and drove in 19.
Rice, who was named the HBCU Chicago Baseball Classic MVP, was second on the team in batting, with a .333 average. He recorded 48 hits, including seven doubles and three homers. The Laurens, S.C. native scored 26 times and drove in 24.
Johnson, who played in 50 games for the Bulldogs, batted .268, with 41 hits. He registered a team-high eight home runs, six doubles and pair of triples, while bringing in a team-high 39 RBIs, along with scoring 24 times.
The Sixth Annual Minority Baseball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game brings together many of the top players from HBCU programs across NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NAIA, and junior college baseball.

The game is part of a full weekend of HBCU baseball and softball events in the Charlotte and Kannapolis area. The weekend also includes a free youth baseball and softball instructional clinic at Atrium Health Ballpark and the Minority Softball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game, scheduled for Friday, June 5, at Stick Williams Dream Fields in Charlotte at 7:15 p.m. Both All-Star games will be preceded with a Home Run Derby.
