Riera’s Blast Lifts Alabama A&M to 6-1 Victory

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Jesus Riera blasted a two-run homer in the third inning as the Alabama A&M University baseball team bounced back from Friday's loss with a 6-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) win over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday at the Bulldog Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama A&M (10-31 overall, 6-14 SWAC) plated one run in the bottom of the first inning as Brycen Hammonds, who reached on a one-out infield hit, scored on a Zak Rice single through the left side as the Bulldogs grabbed an early 1-0 lead.

AAMU added to the lead in the second.

Miles Jackson began the frame with a single to left and advanced to second on a balk. Jared Tribett doubled to left center, scoring Jackson. Tribett came across when Dre Amaral reached on an error as the Bulldogs extended the advantage to 3-0.

Alabama A&M stretched the advantage to 5-0 on a Riera two-run homer in the third.

Bethune-Cookman (25-18, 15-5) trimmed the deficit to 5-1 with a run in the fourth but the Bulldogs answered in the sixth with a run and cruised down the stretch for the 6-1 victory.
