HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Alabama A&M University head women's volleyball coach
Dr. Brandon Reeves announced a significant addition to the roster with the signing of standout senior transfer, Fatima Ramirez, who brings a wealth of experiences and a powerful attacking style to the team.
Â
Ramirez's list of achievements is nothing short of impressive.
Â
The 6-foot-3 outside hitter made history at Edward Waters University (EWU) by being named their first-ever Honorable Mention and All-Region Team awardee. Not only that, but she was also the first Tiger to be voted the SIAC's Player of the Year in consecutive years (2022 & 2023). Her skills earned her a spot on the all-region First Team for the second year running, and she set numerous records for both her school and the conference. In fact, she finished the 2023 season ranked first in the nation for several statistical categories, including 5.37 kills per set and 6.23 points per set, setting new single-season records for EWU.
Â
Ramirez's exceptional performances also led to her being recognized consecutive years as a member of the All-SIAC First Team and receiving the Player of the Week award an impressive twelve times. Additionally, she excelled academically, earning SIAC All-Academic honors. In addition, she is a member of the Belizean Senior National Team and holds the title of being the foremost volleyball player in Belize, where she has collected three medals on behalf of her beloved nation.
Â
Reeves couldn't contain his excitement while welcoming Fatima Ramirez to the Bulldogs Family. He emphasized her ability to add depth, experience, finesse, and maturity to the team, ensuring their immediate success. Reeves firmly believes that Ramirez is the missing piece to elevate the team's culture and unity. The anticipation for Ramirez's arrival in Huntsville this summer is overwhelming.
Â
Ramirez is absolutely thrilled to join the Bulldogs Family and can't wait to compete for the Bulldog volleyball team. She describes the warmth and acceptance she has received from this incredible community as unmatched. Ramirez eagerly looks forward to embarking on her new journey in Huntsville and playing for a remarkable program under an exceptional coach.
Â
Ramirez is one of the six new faces joining the Bulldogs for the upcoming 2024 season, and she stands out as the sole transfer player.
