MEMPHIS, Tenn. | Sophomore goalkeeper Liliana Ribeiro recorded a career high of 10 saves on the night, but it was not enough, as the Bulldogs fell to Memphis, 5-1, in the season opener on Thursday night.
Memphis (1-0-0) took the lead quickly, scoring twice in the first 10 minutes of the match. The Tigers would add another tally in their goal column to blank AAMU at halftime 3-0.
Memphis would extend its lead to four in the 57th minute, before Albany Rios would find Junior Chelsie Charles who sent the ball to the back of the net with 15 minutes to go, for the first Bulldog goal of the season. The Tigers would fire back once more for the final goal of the dual.
The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday in Music City to take on Lipscomb (0-0-1). Kickoff is set for 4 PM C.T.
