BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama A&M University women's soccer sophomores Méghane St-Cyr and Liliana Ribeiro were named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Defensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, the office announced on Tuesday.
St.- Cyr scored her first career goal in AAMU's "Battle of the Bulldogs" versus South Carolina State University at home on Thursday. The Montreal, Canada native shot two balls, both on target, with one of them finding the back of the net in the 20th minute, unassisted. She is the second Bulldog to receive the award this season, after freshman Anita Frederick-Sigaran was honored with the award after she tallied two assists and one goal in the Alabama A&M's win over the University of West Georgia.
Ribeiro notched her first shutout of the season in the 3-0 victory against SCSU. The Ontario, Canada native has saved over 50 goals through eight games of the season, with a season high of 15 against Stetson.
The Bulldogs are set to face Charleston Southern on Saturday at 1pm (CT) at the CSU Soccer Field in Charleston, South Carolina.
