Volleyball Falls to Grambling State

GRAMBLING, La | The Alabama A&M volleyball team (2-10, 0-1 SWAC) fell 3-1 to Grambling State University (5-8, 1-0 SWAC) on Sunday afternoon in its first Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match of the season. 
 

The match was highlighted by Fatima Ramirez's 14 kills, Saldy Amparo-Smith's 11 terminations and 16 digs, and Grace Tapscott's 17 assists, 12 digs and three service aces. Laela Price added 12 more assists and 5 digs on the match.  
 

Grambling State saw a balanced defense, with Dylan Hoskins tallying 25 digs, Lauryn Bourne notching 20 and Essence Allen recording 18. Kennya Sykes paced the front row defense with four and a half blocks. Allen and Bourne also led the Tigers in terminations, with 19 and 11 respectively.  


 

AAMU still leads 18-3 in the all-time series with the Tigers.  
 

The Bulldogs will travel just 150 miles North to take on the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions on Monday at the H.O Clemmons Arena. The first serve is set for 6:30 pm (C.T.).
