THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University women's soccer team (1-5-0) fell to the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders (3-3-0) on Thursday.
Both Manon Lebargy and Yana Yordanova recorded a brace for MTSU. The Blue Raiders struck early, taking a 1-0 lead over AAMU in less than three minutes into the match, when Lauren Spaanstra found Manon Lebargy, who found the back of the net. Both teams battled to the near end of the half, before Aireona Duenez notched another for the Blue Raiders in the 42nd minute.
After halftime, Yordanova scored two unassisted goals, first in the 53rd minute and again in the 64th minute to give them a comfortable lead. The Bulldogs found the back of the net in the 69th minute, but the referees called it back due to an offside player. Lebargy found her second goal in the 84th minute to finalize the match.
Both AAMU goalkeepers record saves on the night, with Liliana Ribeiro notching seven, and Yesenia Aiken nabbing one of her own in her 23 minutes on the field.
The Bulldogs take to the pitch again on Sunday at 11 am against Northwestern State University. Admission is free to the public.
